deo-ra-do
Building the wall and walking on anyway: -더라도
The picture Deliberately standing a wall in your path, and your feet going past it unchanged. -더라도 raises something that has not happened yet and goes anyway; -아/어도 goes anyway despite what is already the case.
Where the picture shows up in -더라도
-
lateness as the wall
neut-deo-ra-do kkok o-se-yo
Even if you're late, please do come.
Standing the late hour up like a wall, then pointing past it at the empty chair behind it
-
rain as the wall
bi-ga o-deo-ra-do mu-neun yeom-ni-da
We open even if it rains.
Raising the shutter all the way up in front of a street full of rain
-
suffering as the wall
him-deul-deo-ra-do ya-geun kkeut-kka-ji deu-se-yo
Even if it's hard, take the medicine to the end.
Counting the remaining pills on your palm and tapping the very last slot
-
a missing person as the wall
je-ga eop-deo-ra-do i-reun do-ra-ga-ya hae-yo
The work has to run even if I'm not here.
Leaving your own seat empty while posting the order of steps so the machine keeps turning
-
price as the wall
gap-si o-reu-deo-ra-do jeo-neun sal geo-ye-yo
Even if the price goes up, I'm buying it.
Your hand closing on the item anyway, with the raised price tag in plain sight
It fits things that have not happened yet. For what has already happened, -아/어도 is more natural.
All of it in one picture
-더라도 is a foot that walks past a wall you yourself put up. Stand lateness up as a wall and you still get 꼭 오세요; stand rain up and the door still opens; stand suffering up and the medicine still runs to the end. Stand your own absence up and the work still has to turn; stand the higher price up and the hand still takes the item. It does not deny the wall — it says the direction does not change because of it.
