바꾸다
ba-kku-da
Swapping a shirt, swapping your mind
The picture What was sitting in a slot is pulled out, and something else moves in and takes the place. 바꾸다 puts something else into the slot; 고치다 works on what is already in it and keeps it.
Where the picture shows up in 바꾸다

one item out, another in

-
another mind fitted into the same slot
그 얘기를 듣고 마음을 바꿨어요.
geu yae-gi-reul deut-go ma-eu-meul ba-kkwo-sseo-yo
I heard that and changed my mind.
A nail is pulled out of the chest and a different nail is driven into the same hole
All of it in one picture
바꾸다 is one picture: one thing leaves a slot and another sits down in it. Put the small shirt on the counter and a larger one takes its place; push dollars across the window and the same value comes back as won. Move the appointment from the two o'clock box to the three o'clock box and you have changed the time; two people sit down in each other's chairs and they have changed seats; pull the nail out of your chest and drive it somewhere else and you have changed your mind.
