All of it in one picture
You borrow three bundles, buy one still-blank bundle, pick up two bundles of the magazine, keep one thick bundle at your elbow, and ask how many bundles you may take. In all five scenes what's in your hand isn't loose paper but a block stitched along one edge, with a spine. 冊 never asks what's printed inside — only whether the paper has been bound into a block. That's why a notebook with nothing written in it is still proudly 一冊.
