About this template

When a one-page project brief is enough

Puts one initiative on a single A4 page for an approval chain. Information table, three numbered sections, a four-figure metrics table and a sign-off block are already placed; you only swap content. Detailed designs and contract terms go in attachments.

Which cell to fill first

  1. Top table first: date, author, department, document number (the sample reads 2026-01-01 / Hong Gil-dong / Corporate Planning / DOC-2026-001 – match your own numbering).
  2. Delete the shaded sample line under it and put a one-sentence summary there. Note that the sample line promises budget and risk, while the file has only three sections – leaving it in promises content that is not there.
  3. Section 1, Background: the current situation only, no solution talk.
  4. Sections 2 (Purpose and scope) and 3 (Delivery organization): a lead sentence plus three bullets. Past five bullets, the metrics table falls to page two.
  5. Metrics table – top row numbers, bottom row labels. Reversed, a label lands in the large-type slot.
  6. Print the prepared / reviewed / approved block empty.

Turning bullets into sentences

  • Background: “47 minutes per case today” becomes “each intake is keyed into spreadsheets twice, 47 minutes per case, 1,645 hours across 2,100 cases a year”.
  • Scope: “phase one automates intake and assignment” becomes “phase one covers intake and assignment only; settlement integration is a separate second phase”.
  • Organization: “working group every other Thursday” becomes “a working group of staff from the four pilot departments meets for an hour every other Thursday, with decisions circulated as minutes”.

How the three sections hold together

The three background bullets should map one to one onto the scope and organization bullets. The four metrics (12 weeks / 186 million won / 4 departments / 47 minutes) must also agree: 47 minutes times 2,100 cases is 1,645 hours a year, so put the hours saved next to the 186 million and state a payback period in one line. The four departments must match the scope section, and the 12 weeks must equal the sum of your phases. Budget detail and risk response have no slot in this form, so add sections 4 and 5 yourself or attach them.

What gets sent back

  • Solution content inside Background, so Section 2 repeats itself.
  • Rewriting the body but leaving the sample metrics untouched.
  • Submitting with the sample author name and document number still in the header table.
  • Pre-filling the sign-off block; a rejection then costs a new number.
