带

dài

带: whatever is stuck to you comes along

The picture Something is fastened to you, so when you move, it moves too. 拿 is holding something in your hand; 带 is having it attached to you as you go — which is why you 带 a child somewhere, never 拿 one.

The words leave his mouth with the accent of his hometown trailing behind them.

  5. keep them at your side and teach

Three apprentices trail along behind the master wherever he goes.

All of it in one picture

带 is one thing fastened to another and moving with it. The keys ride in your pocket and leave with you; the person walks at your side and arrives with you; the charger sits in the box and ships with the phone. The hometown accent rides out on his words, and three apprentices ride along behind their master. So anything with 带 says: I move, and it moves with me.
