About this template
When to use
For planning one 90-minute session: what you teach and where learners end up, on a single page. Fits in-house training, academy curricula and new-course approval requests.
Filling order
- Update the info table: date, author, department, document number. Swap DOC-2026-001 for your course code so session plans stay grouped.
- 1. Learning objectives is one lead sentence plus three bullets. Write each bullet as something the learner can do afterwards.
- Fill 3. Key concepts before 2. Wrap-up. Wrap-up sits in slot 2, but teaching order is objectives, concepts, wrap-up; swap the two blocks to match.
- In Key figures the top row is numbers, the bottom row labels. Replace 6 weeks / 12 sessions / 3 assignments / 90 minutes.
- Leave the writer, reviewer and approver cells blank and print for signatures.
Examples
- Objective: the learner can calculate inventory turnover and pick the three slowest items.
- Key figures: 8 weeks / 16 sessions / 4 assignments / 100 minutes.
Splitting the 90 minutes
Budget 10 minutes opening, 35 concepts, 30 practice, 15 wrap-up, and note them in brackets on each section lead.
Common mistakes
- Flipping the figures table so the display formatting lands on the labels.
- Pasting from another file and breaking the bullet style; paste as plain text.
- Objectives written as “understand X”, which cannot be checked afterwards.
