    The sound shifts: 一本 ippon, 三本 sanbon, 六本 roppon.

    densha ni kasa o ippon wasuremashita

    I left an umbrella on the train.

  3. a line of talk

    今朝から電話を三本かけました。

    kesa kara denwa o sanbon kakemashita

    I've made three calls since this morning.

    It's one street in from that road.

    I watched two films over the weekend.

    本 also means 'book', but books are counted with 冊, not 本.
