About this template

A portfolio that arrives by email first

Eight slides for showing edited video or motion work by email or screen share. Nothing plays inside the file, so treat the deck as a guide that tells the viewer what to watch and sends them to a link. In a meeting where you can run the reel, the reel beats the deck.

How the eight slides divide up

Cover, agenda, a SECTION 01 divider, one body slide, the raw-versus-edited comparison, four metric cards, four trend bars, and the closing slide. The agenda has only four lines – the reel, raw versus edited, key metrics, trend analysis – and every one of them has a slide behind it. Only the first line comes with a divider and a body slide, so slide 4 is the only place to lay work out; showing several pieces means duplicating the 3-4 pair, numbering the new divider from 02 and adding agenda lines.

How to place the work

Capture a representative frame into the image area and put the link and running time on the bullet line. Embedding video files pushes the deck past several hundred megabytes and can show a black frame on another machine because of codecs; prefer a source link with a start timestamp. Slide 4 leads with cutting only the strongest shots into 90 seconds, and its three items – strongest cut in the first five seconds, 90 seconds across 12 shots, a music-license caption – describe how one reel was built rather than listing works. To turn it into a list of pieces, replace all three lines.

  • e.g. Brand film – 1:42 – color grade comparison from 0:38
  • e.g. Weekly series – 12 episodes, 8-11 min each, 5 days from brief to delivery
  • e.g. 3D logo reveal – 6 seconds – After Effects, Element 3D

Slide 5, the cards and the bars

Slide 5 puts raw footage on the left – 4 hours 42 minutes in total, location sound as recorded, before color grading – against the finished edit on the right: a 2:30 main cut plus three short-form versions, narration and music added, a matched color grade. Length, sound and color pair across the two columns, so edit facing lines together; that is where an editor’s craft shows fastest. The cards ship as a 90-second reel, 420,000 cumulative views, a 58% completion rate and 14 delivered films – already video figures, so change the numbers and state under the cards which channel and how many months they cover. If clients care more about turnaround, swap a tile for average delivery time, owned camera gear, or the longest long-form edit. The four bars read 11, 19, 28 and 42 for March, June, September and December – deliveries at quarterly intervals, with no unit caption – so if you switch to counts by genre, relabel them and redraw the bar heights to match.

Check before you send

  • Choosing a thumbnail frame with burned-in subtitles – the text breaks up when scaled down.
  • Sharing links that are still private; open them from another account before sending.
  • Omitting run times – nobody presses play without knowing the length.
  • Leaving the template blurb and the placeholder presenter line on the cover; the same presenter line appears again on slide 8, so fix both.
  • Closing on the tagline and a thank-you with no contact address or portfolio URL, leaving the viewer nothing to do next.
