What class this suits

Twelve slides for kindergarten and lower-primary after-school classes, library programs, or an open lesson with parents watching – a single session driven from a screen. It opens with a hello song and moves into a story and physical play, so it does not suit a sit-and-listen lecture. There are no worksheets or workbook pages in the file; prepare those separately and let this deck carry the order of the session.

Three section pairs against a six-line agenda

Slides 3-4 are the hello song, 5-6 today’s story, 7-8 moving about, each a divider plus a body slide. Opening, story, activity is already the right teaching order, so no rearranging is needed. The agenda on slide 2, however, lists six items – hello song, today’s story, moving about, making things, tidy-up time, sticker reward – against three body slides. Making things, tidy-up and stickers happen away from the screen, so the class still works, but if your children count the agenda items, either cut the agenda to three lines or duplicate the 7-8 pair until you have six. Renumber SECTION 01, 02, 03 on the dividers as you go.

The on-screen lines are already at a child’s level

The three body lines read “wave when your name is called”, “guess the next scene”, “freeze when the music stops” – short instructions a child can read aloud and follow at once. Keep that form when you change the content. For a lesson on states of water: “say what ice turns into when it melts”; “find the picture where water becomes steam”; “freeze like ice, then flow like water”. Keep each line to about fifteen characters and never more than three items – the body layout already enforces three. The explanatory line under each divider title is read by the teacher, so it does not have to be child-level.

Metrics and bars in your own classroom numbers

Slide 10 holds class length 25 minutes, picture book 12 pages, 3 sheets of colored paper, 8 children per class. With materials and time on it, this slide is really a teacher’s preparation checklist, and at an open lesson it doubles as the plan for the day. Twenty-five minutes and eight children vary by class, so put your real numbers in and replace the colored paper with today’s materials; the 12 pages repeats the body slide, so change both. Slide 11 rises from 12 in week 1 to 18, 26 and 35 in week 4. Children respond far better to something visible – stickers collected or books read – than to scores, and that ties straight to the sticker reward in the agenda. Write under the bars what is being counted.

Dividing the 25 minutes

1. Slides 1-2: two minutes walking through what happens today.
2. Hello song body slide: five minutes of singing and mood stickers.
3. Today’s story body slide: eight minutes on the twelve-page book.
4. Moving about body slide: six minutes on their feet.
5. Slides 10-11: two minutes checking materials and the sticker chart.
6. Slide 12: two minutes on what to bring next time.

During the physical activity, leave only the sticker chart on screen or go to black; a full slide competes for attention.

What gets in the way during class

• Leaving the sample lines on slide 9 (reading letter by letter, tidying up in five minutes) as they are. Put in something your own class actually did this week, or the children will not recognise themselves in it.
• Putting more than four lines on one screen – attention scatters from the third line on.
• Ending slide 12 with only a greeting; one line about what to bring next time is what parents photograph.
