About this template

Introducing a whole program for the first time

Twelve slides for presenting an entire program – an information session, a corporate training kickoff, a departmental briefing. It is not a deck for teaching one lesson. The six agenda lines already follow a program flow: outcomes, credit structure, course list, completion rules, start dates and enrolment.

Six agenda lines, three body pairs

Only the first three items (outcomes, credit structure, course list) have a divider and a body slide. Completion rules, schedule and enrolment appear in the agenda alone – and those are exactly the items attendees ask about. Duplicate three more pairs for an 18-slide deck, or, if the length is fixed, move those three into the KPI slide, the closing page and a handout and cut the agenda to three lines. An agenda item with no slide keeps the audience waiting.

What goes on the three body slides

  • Outcomes: who it is for and what they can do afterwards – “for practitioners with under two years’ experience”, “three roles you can apply for”, “no prerequisites”.
  • Credit structure: “5 required courses, 15 credits”, “at least 3 electives, 9 credits”, “up to 6 transfer credits”. If you do not run on credits, use contact hours and required labs.
  • Course list: attach hours to every course – “4 theory courses, 30 hours each”, “3 labs, 45 hours each”, “60-hour capstone” – so the total is computable.

Fixing the cards and the term bars

Slide 10 carries 24 weeks, 8 courses, 80% attendance and a class size of 25, with a footnote saying the values are samples. These four boxes attract most enquiries, so replace them with real numbers and then delete the footnote – otherwise your real figures read as placeholders. Check that the hours on the course slide add up to 24 weeks. Slide 11 shows 12, 24, 33 and 45 across four terms with a caption reading “index, base 100”, which does not match a 24-week program; switch to cumulative progress or assignment submission rates and fix the unit in the caption.

Problems that keep recurring

  • Cramming a twelve-row weekly table onto one slide; keep two-week blocks on screen and move the detail to a handout.
  • Leaving out completion rules; without the 80% attendance line you answer the same question all term and have nothing to cite in a refund dispute.
  • Letting the class-size card differ from the number you actually enrol – it drives the registration deadline notice.
